“When someone who was part of your life for so long leaves, you feel like the world has been buried alive. Weeks after their departure their name is the only thing wrapped around your brain. You start to think about all of the words you could’ve told them when they were physically there in front of you. You start to think about how you could’ve caressed their hands so much more. You start to think of the last words you said to them. Could you have said something different to them? This person, the one who was part of your life for a long time made you realize that roses have thorns for a reason. Weeks after their departure, you’re going to trick your mind into believing they left on vacation. You try convincing yourself they left willingly, and just left a note on the counter saying they left to Spain or Alaska, and they never want to be contacted again. But then you stop and think how they didn’t even know their departure was going to come this soon. This is when you crawl into bed at night and it feels cold and you cry until you fall asleep, and just wonder when is their departure going to feel okay?”
